The documentary film “Make Goals Not War” will have its world premier screening simultaneously in Toronto, Mexico City and Orlando on the weekend of September 28, 2007.
Make Goals Not War will screen at: DOCS DF International Film Festival in Mexico City, Mexico on September 29, 2007; Global Community Film Festival in Toronto, Canada on September 30, 2007, and; Global Peace Film Festival in Orlando, Florida on September 28, 2007.

Hamilton, Canada. Make Goals Not War launches its new web site which features information about its international activities. The new web site also features video previews of the Make Goals Not War documentary of Maty Campeonisimo's mission to solve international conflicts with soccer matches at the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

UN Secretary General says Make Goals Not War "is a good idea."

Berlin, Germany. Maty met briefly with the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Maty presented Mr. Annan with a Make Goals Not War peace tee. Mr. Annan was delighted with the gift and told Maty, “Make Goals Not War. Now that’s a good idea. I agree with you.” In a subsequent speech to FIFA delegates, Mr. Annan said he recognized that soccer is the only truly global game and that soccer was even more universal than the United Nations.

FIFA President tells world to Make Goals Not War.

Berlin, Germany. Maty Campeonisimo met with FIFA president Joseph S. Blatter to discuss how football can be an instrument for peace. Mr. Blatter strongly supported Maty’s goal to end all war and resolve international conflicts. According to Mr. Blatter, Make Goals Not War “is a wonderful idea. If you have a conflict, you can settle it through a football match. You have these characteristics present in a football match; you have two teams or two parties going into combat. But it is a fair combat because there are rules and there is a referee. You don’t have that in war.” Mr. Blatter emphasized that FIFA would invite countries going into war to have a football match instead.

Maty Campeonisimo attends Street Football World Festival kick-off.

Berlin, Germany. Maty Campeonisimo attended the inauguration of the 2006 Street Football World Festival. Street Football World is an international network of street football clubs with different social concerns but that share one common goal: helping young people learn for life through football. The 2006 Street Football World Festival is a street football tournament where youth teams from around the world compete for the Andres Escobar Copa de Paz, named in memory of the murdered Colombian player.

Make Goals Not War attends FIFA’s Say No To Racism press conference.
Berlin, Germany. The Make Goals Not War team was invited to attend a FIFA press conference against racism at the Olympic Stadium. The conference panel was headed by FIFA President Joseph Blatter and included German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble, German Organizing Committee and 1974 World Cup Champion Frank “Kaiser” Beckenbauer, UNICEF’s Ann Venemann, and South Africa 2010 World Cup organizer and freedom fighter Mr. Tokyo Sexwale. The message of the conference was that football has the power to unite all people and overcome racial intolerance.

German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble supports Make Goals Not War.
Berlin, Germany. Maty Campeonisimo met today with the German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble. Minister Schäuble and Maty discussed how football can be a force for peace. Minister Schäuble supported Maty’s efforts to outlaw war and stated “football is a force for peace and the World Cup is a wonderful experience of peace and integration.” In addition, Minister Schäuble added that football allows people to show enthusiasm for their own team and build friendship with others and the historical importance that the World Cup final will be played in Germany, the former symbol of a divided Germany.

Leipzig, Germany. Maty was invited to guest comment on the elimination stage match between Argentina and Mexico on TeleAzteca (Mexico) and Quatro Cabezas (Argentina) live feeds from the FIFA Fan Fest in downtown Leipzig.

Maty Campeonisimo featured in Rund football magazine

Helsinki, Germany. Maty Campeonisimo was featured in this week’s Rund magazine, Germany’s top weekly football publication. Maty’s photo was included in the Fans de Welt feature article and described as a young Gerd Muller. Muller, was part of Germany’s World Cup champion team in 1974 and holds the World Cup goal scoring record.

Maty Campeonisimo meets with the Polish Football Fan Association President.

Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Maty met with Andrzej “Bobo” Bobowski, President of the Polish Football Association’s fan club. Bobo is also known as the King of Polish Soccer Fans and has been to 8 World Cup and over 100 matches. He crowned Maty the King of Football for Peace.

Serbia and Montenegro Football Association support Make Goals Not War.
Billerbeck, Germany. Maty Campeonisimo met with the Serbian and Montenegro Football Association at their training camp. Serbian international and Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic added his support to Make Goals Not War. Serbian and Montenegrins voted to separate into two states in the week prior to the start of the World Cup. When asked what this World Cup would mean for Serbia and Montenegro relations, Serbia and Montenegro Football Association representative Aleksander Boskovic stated: “we came here together and we will leave together….it was a joint effort that got us here an we all have respect for that.”
